Shutters: a timeless classic
- On 10 February, 2023
Oh… the vast world of shutters! The model chosen will depend on the level of shading, ventilation and aesthetics sought.
A shutter is a passive sun protection element placed outside a window or door. When closed, it can partially or fully keep light from entering a room. Depending on the overall aesthetics of your architectural project and your functional needs, we will custom-design the system in terms of panel type, movement style, size, material type, etc.
Let’s discover solutions together, starting from the solar protection needs of your project:
Complete darkness: our opaque shutters
Tamiluz opaque shutters are a classic and efficient solution to keep sunlight out. Available with blade and bi-fold openings, these shutters instantly darken a room completely with great ease.
Shutters in this model are usually custom-made to match the dimensions of the windows they’re installed on. Tamiluz opaque shutters adapt easily to any atmosphere and guarantee a coherent and customized style.
Our panelled shutters can be built in wood, aluminium sheet, aluminium composite, zinc, high-pressure laminate (HPL), and copper. Meanwhile, our wide selection of hardware sets will allow for different types of movement: sliding, folding, openable, raisable, foldable or fixed solutions. These options will allow you further to customize such a prominent element of your curb appeal.
Partial sunlight: perforated shutters
Tamiluz perforated shutters, whether made from perforated metal sheets or corrugated high-pressure laminate (HPL), allow you to take some weight off your façade. These can protect a building’s interior, filter sunlight and wind, and provide thermal insulation – which will, in turn, improve the structure’s energy efficiency. Tamiluz systems and their own hardware allow for different types of closing and movement: sliding, folding, raisable or fixed.
They act as a sunlight regulator: they help diminish indoor light reflection and provide additional protection against the heat created by direct sunlight, improving the room’s comfort and habitability while allowing natural light.
Our perforated shutters constitute an innovative and appealing solution favouring natural climate control. In addition, they’re not just structurally solid, but also fully recyclable.
We manufacture perforated shutters with smooth, corrugated, and undulated sheets, using materials such as aluminium, galvanized steel, copper, zinc, and high-pressure laminate (HPL). These are fully customizable: we can provide the perforations following different standard geometrical patterns, as well as custom patterns, thanks to our CNC equipment, which can create perforations in different types and dimensions.
Optimal light and ventilation: Expanded metal shutters
Another option at Tamiluz is expanded metal or deployé shutters: they offer privacy from prying eyes and diminish the thermal impact and temperature transfer within the building without completely obscuring it.
Furthermore, their design favours free airflow, providing a more ventilated facility and increasing the exceptional resistance of any metal installations around doors and windows (which will then be impenetrable and impossible to climb).
The use of expanded metal on a building’s shutters can provide an aesthetically-pleasant finish, which will positively influence the project’s design and energy consumption. The different hardware and hinge models we offer will permit different types of closing and movement, such as: sliding, folding, openable, raisable, foldable or fixed.
Tamiluz expanded metal shutters are easy to install and can be manufactured in a variety of metals and finishes: they may be done in aluminium, galvanized steel, copper and zinc, with a powdered or anodized coating from the vast colour chart we have placed at your disposal.
