“Campus Comédie”
Design and building of 31 first-time buyers’ homes, 117 private residences for students, offices for the SNCF and car parking facilities.
This project, opposite Montpellier’s SCNF station, adjacent to the railway tracks, structures both a student residence and social rental housing.
To the monolithic appearance of the complex, soft and delicate curved angles are added, giving unity and defining a new scale, rich and sober, but above all, in correlation with the urban fabric.
The challenge:
Adapt a specially designed corrugated sheet of aluminium onto a sliding aluminium frame, which should be as subtle as possible. This idea was further complicated by the curved areas in both the sliding panels and the fixed elements, visible at both ends.
Cladding for the perimeter tracks was also custom designed to highlight the structure. It reintroduces the curved portion, creating a prominent element on the exposed concrete, thus providing elegance and dynamism.
